Who we are and how we got here!

It all started in a Nissan hut in Preston, when William Moore started making die castings in his back garden! William soon joined forces with master pattern maker and engineer, George Scholes.

The partners moved from producing die castings for the Bond minicar, to supplying aluminium vee pulleys for the local cotton trade, before buying a shop on Park Road selling transmission equipment, tools and fastenings.

Son Rodney Moore joined in 1961, selling manufacturing commodities and when George died in 1962, the father and son team carried on and became William Moore and Son (Preston) Ltd.

Before long, the company went into wholesale and industrial equipment supplies and when William died in 1970, Rodney concentrated the business on industrial distribution, later diversifying into industrial and retail supplies.

Sons Marcus and Gary joined the business in the early 1990s and business continued to grow until an arson attack in October 1998 destroyed the premises. But Rodney and his sons were not to be deterred and, after running the business from home for a while, they moved to their existing premises in Crook Street.

Rodney retired in 2004 and today, William Moore and Sons Ltd continues to be run by joint MDs Marcus and Gary, from 18,000 sq ft of warehousing, now selling industrial supplies for retail and trade in the Lancashire area.

Ever-evolving, the company is now celebrating the launch of its brand new website - with thousands of products online, locally and nationally.
